Author dry wood termite treatment question

While clearing out a portion of my lot that is at the bottom of a slope, I
came across some sections of a tree trunk that had been sawed and stacked
in a row. The sections are about 2 feet high and as wide and they sit on
the other side of a wire fence that was covered with blackberry vines.
Blackberry vines had covered the fence and the trunk sections until I
cleared them out. I was at the bottom of the slope today right before
sunset and was surprised to see two swarms of dry wood termites comes out
of two different stacks of trunks. I'd like to know what is the best way
to deal with these things (or, rather, I should say how should my neighbor
deal with them since they are on his property). Is it enough to simply have
the trunk sections hauled away or should they be treated in advance? If
treatment is needed, what should be used and is it necessary to spray the
area around the stacked trunk sections?

I'm not overly concerned about an immediate threat to my home since it is
some 200 feet away, uphill, although I know the little buggers can fly and
have been near my house. The more immediate threat would be to my
neighbor's home which is less than 100 feet away from these things.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I would say removal of the wood would be the best thing you could do at this
point since they are not close to your home. I would also recommend that you
keep an exterminator on alert and have them inspect your house for you on a
regular basis to make sure you have no problems come up on you without you
knowing. If you do have a problem with Drywoods you will have to have the
house fumigated. But at this point since the termites are just in the
firewood I would say just remove the wood and you will probably remove the
termites themselves. Drywoods normally live in the wood so removal should
work for you.
