Author Get rid of Garage and attic

Is there a way to get rid of the rats in garage (maybe attic, too) without
dealing with dead animals? I am afraid that dead rats may be at places I
cannot reach. It will then create an even worse problems than I have now.
Mouse traps are too messy. Any better idea? I just want them out of here. I
don't mind if they leave alive. Thanks for your help.
