Get rid of rats in garage and attic

| Typos in the subject line in my previous post.
Is there a way to get rid of rats in garage (maybe attic, too) without
dealing with dead animals? I am afraid that dead rats may be at places I
cannot reach. It will then create an even worse problems than I have now.
Mouse traps are too messy. Any better idea? I just want them out of here. I
don't mind if they leave alive. Thanks for your help.

| Use rat size snap traps in the garage and attic. Look for any entry points
into the house and seal them up. If you have a breezeway or an attached
garage there will be entry into the garage either by breezeway or hole
allowing access into the structure.
There could be entry points on the roof too. Its best to get a professional
out there to find all the entry points for you. You could also be set up on
a rodent control program with exterior rodent stations. That would help
lower the rodent population outside thats coming in.

| Chuck there are three main ways to do this. Snap traps, glueboards, and
livetraps. You need to make sure they are rats and not mice before you try
to live trap them though. If they are in fact rats you can get the small
Havahart live trap at your local building supply store ie; Lowe's, Home
Depot, 84 Lumber etc etc and catch and release them. I do not do it this way
but it is an option. I would use the large glueboard or snaptraps to get
them out of the area you are seeing them in. There are a couple of things
you need to know one is if you smoke be sure to wash you hands before
handling any of these devices because nicotine is a repellant to rodents.
Second placement is key when puttint these things out. If using the gluse
boards place the along a wall do not place them out in the middle of the
room in the floor. Snaptraps need to be placed so that they snap closed
towards the wall with the opposite end touching the wall, again this is the
best placement for them not out in the middle of the floor. Then you will
need to get some stainless steel scouring pads and seal up the openings
where the rodents are gaining entrance into your home. If you try this and
it does not work you may want to hire it done.
