Rubbing Alcohol As A Fumigant

| For a long time I used common 70% IPA in a spray bottle to kill
cockroaches. The roach goes into warp speed before he dies. Later I
realized it was the cleanest easiest way to dispatch a fly. Sooner or
later he gets tipsy then you finish him off.
Just don't spray your food or open flames.
Recently I wondered if it might be a carcingen free way to kill
termites. Inject as much alcohol into the holes as possible then
follow up with 100 psi air.
Has anyone considered this before?

I would think with evaporation all you would get is a contact kill for
the insects, at a higher toxic rate (and highly flammable to boot)than
conventional insecticides/termiticides. The problem with using for as a
general insecticide (roaches/flies) you would be addressing a continual
problem after the fact where as with products on the market the problem
would not only stop what activity is there but help with the future
invasions down the road.

he surely would of swatted those two flies.

| So far so good.
Maybe now that Katrina has irreparably damaged many of the structures
infested with the feared Asian termite IPA may be the way to finish
them off.
Just show up at each damaged house with a tanker truck of rubbing
alcohol, a pump and a nozzle.
It would kill all the Palmetto bugs too.

That's a new one on me, never heard of an Asian Termite much less a Feared
Asian Termite.
No wait I bet you have been dealing with that Company Vexcon that was on
that show Dirty Jobs, that sounds like one of his descriptions.
Are you sure it isn't the Formosan Termite?

| What's wrong with sounding a little quaint?
Anyway you REALLY ought to get a tanker load of IPA and hose down some
of those infestations in New Orleans.
Who's gonna care? You might even be able to save the city.
Out in the desert I use IPA on those tiny mosquitoes infected with W.
Nile virus.
I'm a great believer in alcohol.
