| For the resident PCO's in here:
Tomorrow, we've got an exterminator (seems to be locally owned/operated)
coming in to do a bee treatment.
In the past, I've had some nests under the eaves of my shed, and 2 huge
nests under my deck (I'm surprised nobody got stung--except for me when I
tried spraying at the nest between the floorboards with wasp/bee killer). I
also had some nests behind the shutters of the kitchen window overlooking
the deck. Usually I just take the shutters down when it's below 50 degrees
and blast the nests out with the hose.
Last year, we had them spray the place, and I haven't noticed many
bees/wasps around so I wonder if the treatment worked? Just a few days
ago, I was looking at the shed, and found a couple honeycomb nests under the
eaves (knocked 'em down with a stick). I wonder if these were from last
year or from the year before?
Do the bee treatments work? This place has a guarantee that they'll keep
the bees from nesting "until the snow flies".
Thanks!
(I'm in Upstate NY near Syracuse).

I'm guessing you are talking about paper wasps rather than honey bees
http://www.arrow-pestcontrol.com/paperwasp.JPG If they are an active
nest you would see eggs/larvae in some of the cells.
I would think with yalls short "summer" a single treatment might keep
away them away until cold.

| Sounds like an old nest if there was no activity. Just keep your eyes
open and call them if you need to. When I do these jobs I try to knock
down the old nests if I can. I prefer they call me and leave me know of
a problem than they do it themselves.
