I've got a small area in my home where there is some sub termite activity.
I plan to drill a few holes and shoot in some chemical pesticide. Which
chemical is going provide longer lasting protection: permitrin or
bifenthrin? Each is featured in available over the counter products.
However, the Ortho product (with bifenthrin) claims 5-year protection while
the Spectracide (with permithrin) claims it kills for up to several weeks.
Does this make the more expensive Ortho product the better choice?

The bifenthrin will be longer lasting than permethrin, though if you are
using it as a in the wall/void treatment it won't last 5
years..depending on the heat you might get a number of months out of it.
Both products are mainly a "shield" the termites detect and
avoid..actually go around to untreated areas so you might push them into
new areas.
