I hate ANTS!!! What to do?

| I live in an apartment building, garden level. I have a TRAIL of ants
running along one wall and across the living room. The direction they are
headed (where they disappear) is toward an empty apartment next door. I
checked it and did not see any trails or old food out.
I have had a lot of trouble with this apartment (including wood louse
spiders and centipedes - the Scutigera Coleoptrata type), even in the middle
of winter (I'm in Minnesota).
In the past I've used the Raid ant domes. They lined up for it, died, but
when they came back the next summer, they wouldn't touch it. Just walked
right on by.
Then I got Max Attrax, they lined up for it, went through two boxes of them
(8 domes) before they dwindled away. Now, a few months later, they are back
and won't touch it. I've set out Combat ant baits as well. They are not
interested.
I've got three different ant baits sitting out, with no luck. What do I do?
Do ants learn that something is poisonous and won't touch it again?
Maybe I'm crazy, but I actually believe that when I laid some baits down and
watched the ants, I saw a sort of rapid up-down bounce movement, as if they
ant was warning others (don't know, I don't speak antish). But if one ant
knew it, wouldn't they all?

| I have had good luck with Terro most of the time. But I am not an expert.

Do ants learn that something is poisonous and won't touch it again?

Ants can be a pain trying to figure what type of bait they want to feed
on...as suggested Terro is a good generic bait for different ants. If
you wanted to pay for a treatment, have them use Phantom inside/Termidor
outside and you probably will have no ants for a year.

| Terro is an excellent product to use, however many times with it you will
end up attracting more ants inside your home than you will get rid of. Lar
has given you the best advice, but you need to hire a professional to do the
treatment he suggested. Hire someone to do a Termidor outside and Phantom
inside treatment and your ant problems will be gone for at least a year. I
have a big one to do Friday and I am doing exactly this treatment. The house
has two different types of ants and this treatment will get rid of them
both, There are Carpenter ants and Odorous house ants and the
Termidor/Phantom combination will rid this home of both ant problems. Also
with this service there is no need to hire someone and sign a contract for
ongoing service visits, you simply wont need them. I sell it as a one time
service with a 60 day guarantee. Do yourself a favor and get this done and
be over the ants for good.

Terro seems to be working great. They're lining up like it was government
cheese!
I'm just a renter here. If I call in an exterminator, can I send the bill to
my landlord?

Yeah and they could be bringing all their relatives into your house for free
cheese too and some of them may go looking for some wine to go with the
cheese and not ever eat the cheese, see what I mean by attracting them into
your house. If it is working good you may want to put out some more
placements of it so they dont have to line up so much. Also remember if they
are eating the terro they are sweet feeders and what is sweet to them may
not always be sweet to you. Soap is sweet to them.

You will have to work that out with your landlord. Sometimes landlords are
good about paying for these services to keep a good tenant, maybe they will
split the cost with you half and half. Talk to them and see what you can
work out. You know the worst they can say.....No
