Why are ants invading my house?

| It boggles my mind. Most times of the year they don't even send in
sentries. Generally, twice a year they do. Winter I can understand. It's
warmer, maybe they can't find enough food. Right now, it's neither hot
or cold and there's ripe plums all over the ground outside. They're
sugar eating ants and I'd think they have everything they need in spades
out there. Why am I finding sentries in my kitchen and bathroom? Thanks
for any ideas.

Imagine a wagon wheel, with a central hub and the spokes. The centralized
nest will have foragers going off in every direction. If you are having
any afternoon showers, the established feeding trails may be washed away
causing foragers to be found about.

Dan think about what you said, you have answered you own question in a way.
They are coming into your bathroom and kitchen, what do those rooms have in
common that has been lacking for the last two months in your area? Water my
friend, the ants could very well be coming looking for water just as well as
they could be looking for food.

Ah. You mean they can't use the water in the plums? It's true I see them
around the sink a lot. Maybe they are thirsty. Would it help if I put a
dish of water out there?
I spray the yard almost every day because I'm growing vegetables. I just
don't know.
