I'm considering signing up with a local company for an annual pest
inspection. Is there a better time in the year to have such an inspection
done?

In Richmond, Virginia area. Older house with vinyl siding.

Anytime during the year is fine for your inspection. Just insure that
your attic, subfloor (if you have one), are checked.

Good Luck

I just wonder why, if you have concerns about termites, that you "sign
up" for only an inspection?

How much is your home worth? Termites can work unseen for weeks,
months, even years, and in some cases, a visual inspection will not
find them.

If you have to "sign up" for a service, get one that at a minimum will
provide some kind of termite monitoring or detection stations around
your home. Better yet, why not buy some termite prevention service. I
would recommend that you call Ron Keefus - he's about an hour from you
- and talk to him. He can be reached at 1-866-366-8683.
