There's something in my loft, but I haven't seen it. I can't see any
visible ways in to the loft and the fact I've never seen them means I
can't block any potential access points.
Any ideas from my clues?
They make the most sound between 6-8am - lots of running around and
squeeking/chirping, and I also heard them at about 13.00 today. They've
been there for about 2 weeks and I had them the same time last year as
well, the noises stopped after a few weeks last year.
I thought it was rats/mice but it sounds a bigger animal than that.
Sometimes you can hear a noise that sounds like something hammering on
the joists!
My house is detached with nothing overhanging. The only way I can see
something getting up there is scaling the wall or drain pipe.
What do you think, rats/mice or squirrels?

Just guessing would be squirrels or rats...both can scale the wall or
use the downspout of a gutter to get to the roof line. Hearing noises
in the daytime would be more inclined to think it is squirrels, though
that doesn't totally eliminate rat activity. Squirrels usually have an
obvious entry way, but it could be hidden by the gutter or up under an
"eyebrow" of the roof. A thorough inspection is the first line of
attack needed.

Oh, if only Noah would of been a bit more wise,
he surely would of swatted those two flies.
