I noticed a few black bug in the kitchen 3 weeks ago.

Looking around the internet, I believe them to be Granary Weevil, but
the bottom is black. Of course it is hard to tell exactly since they
are small, but it looks like a Granary Weevil.

I found 2 crawling on the counter, and 1 on the door of a cabinet.

Looked through the cabinets and did not see anymore.

BUT:
1. 3 days ago, found another one on the counter
2. Last night, found one in the sink.

ALSO
I have not been in my bedroom for the past month and I have taken apart
the bed, etc.
Went back into the room after being away for a few weeks and found the
bodies of 2 of them.

Now, some questions:
1. If they are indeed Granary Weevils, why would they be in my bedroom?
Theres no grain, rice or flour there.
BUT my room is in the basement, right below the kitchen.

2. Also I was in my hotel last week and I noticed a bug crawling on the
wall that looked like a Granary Weevil in the bathroom. (this was in
upstate NY)
How/why would that bug be there in the bathroom?
Actually why would it even be in a hotel room, theres no grain there.

Could it be a different type of bug?
But based on google images, it looks like a Granary Weevil, except the
bug I see is black, not brown.

Thanks

Lar

There are dozens of small weevil/beetles that can resemble one another
and have close lifestyles IE one weevil are commonly found as a pantry
pest and then there may be a cousin that feed of seeds from plants out
in the environment, so a coincidences is possible. The weevils in your
home may be one of the classic pantry pests or a natural beetle that may
be there due to a field mouse storing grass seeds or dog food in the
walls. Check all packaging such as tea bags or cooking chocolate, even
foil packets such as dry soup mixes are in. If you find pin holes in the
packing the insects are inside. Just a thorough inspection may be what
is needed to locate your problem, sometimes the pros can find the source
quicker do to knowing what to look for. Finding the source and then
thorough cleaning and removing anything that might be contaminated will
stop the problem, no insecticides probably are needed.

It is said that the early bird gets the worm,
but it is the second mouse that gets the cheese.

so they can actually break through the wrapper of a bag of noodles, etc
?

What about plastic containers? Like the kind that soup comes in from a
Chinese take out place?

But the weird thing is they somehow made it to my bedroom, which has no
grain/rice/food/etc, and I found one in the hotel bedroom.

Why would they be in those places where there is little chance of there
being grain-type food?

Thanks!

Don't think I have seen them go through the heavy cellophane on noodle
packages, but then again not sure I have ever seen a noodle package that
didn't have punctures or holes in it.

If the bedroom is under the kitchen it is just a matter of the insects
getting into the walls and finding themselves in your room. If field
mice were ever a problem they may of stored grainy foods in the walls,
or it could be something grainy stored in the basement/garage and the
insects are making their way into the kitchen via the walls. If they
are in food in the cabinet or pantry, more than likely as you inspect
the shelves you will find fine powder from where they came out a food
package. It's just a matter of inspecting and sometimes it is worth
paying for someone who might have the "trained eye" to find out what is
going on.
