Hello,

I recentley bought a house in a rural area of Northern NJ. The house is
constructed with a very low crawl space (approximatley 1' in some
areas). For the most part the crawl space is inaccesable except for
someone on their stomach.

When I purchased the house, the crawl space was inspected for Termites
and given a clean bill of health.

I am interested in getting a termite treatment (with a warranty against
structural damage) for my own peace of mind as well as to prevent
future infestation. After contacting several local pest control
companies, as well as a bigger company (Orkin) I was informed by all
of them that the crawl space is too low to access and perform a proper
treatment. In addition, I was also informed that just doing a
treatment around the exterior of the house is not sufficent protection.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

It's hard to give the sure answer without seeing the property. As far as
just doing a perimeter treatment, I'd have no problem doing a partial
treatment with Termidor and expect full protection as other surely will
have the same feelings with the various baiting programs. As far as
getting damage protection you probably will get that from the larger
National companies but you will be paying for it, probably extremely
over paying for it in the long run.

If a liquid treatment is done, they could drill through the foundation
from the outside and treat the soil inside the crawlspace along the
perimeter. Or, you could go with a termite baiting system and forego
the drilling. Either would work well if done properly.

IF you choose a bait system, find someone that uses the Advance Termite
Bait System. It's the best bait system out there right now.
