Remember when deciding on a pest control company, that most companies use
the same chemical and same technique in spraying. Your bigger companies will
charge more and will force you to sign a 1 year contract, in the warmer
states you almost need monthly service, but in mid-west and the east, when
there is 2 feet of snow and 20 below zero, not much is living and no need
for general pest control. Now if you need a termite treatment, you are
better off with a big name company that has more experience.

Now you were doing so well until the last sentence. I would think that
the smaller companies probably have the more experience termite workers
compared to the revolving door policies of the larger companies
especially when it comes to termite work. Not to mention the large
companies will have a sales force that does the inspections...great they
have experience seeing and selling termite jobs but not doing the work
then passing it on to workers who do the treatment but may not know or
care about the in and outs of termites and how they truly relate to
structures. Compare that to a small outfit who has to inspect, sale and
actually do the termite work himself and not just hold a license that
allows him to apply termiticides but has to have a certified applicator
license that has to be updated yearly with ongoing education
specifically for termites.

My only opinion on the termite jobs, not soil treatments is that they do
more and have more experience. I did all termite inspections for 1 company
and never received a bid for the actual treatment of a problem. Also depends
on what part of country your in. In Vegas we don't have as much of a problem
compared to other states.

The larger companies have more lawsuits over termite treatments not
performed properly, too. Stick with an independent operator.

Small companies have more hanging on their treatments. They can't
afford for even one treatment to go bad. They rely totally on their
company.

The big companies have more resources and my have the latest-and-
greatest products though.

Decide for yourself, but have a big company come out for the
inspection and bid and a small company too. Ask your friends for
referrals. Don't let a company come out if they charge for the
inspection.
