Goodman furnace won't fire.
|

| Hey guys,
I'm having a problem with our Goodman furnace. It's not producing
heat, so I went down to look at it. It goes through it's whole
progression, but the burners never light. It does everything up till
it's normal click, at which point they normally heat up and then fire.
The gas line going to it is on, and the gas control knob on the furnace
itself is on. The hot water heater is working, so any idea what the
deal is?

Without being there to see it is hard to make a call on the part that is wrong
but i can only say it can be 1 of the 3 things.
Flame roll out switches.
Thermostat antisipator set wrong.
Bad electronic control head on the Gas Valve.
You need to call a service company to come see as to what problem it is.

Then there is the proving switch....
Now that everybody is getting roofs repaired/replaced, I have been getting a
half dozen no-heat calls a day from that alone

The deal is, your furnace is not producing any heat. However, the built in
safety controls are doing their job. Bring your furnace in for a FREE
inspection, and I'll tell you whats wrong, and what parts you need to purchase,
and what specialized tools you may need to calibrate those parts to your
specific conditions.
OR, call your local heating & ac company to come over for a look-see.

This is Turtle.
The OP said that it would do everything but not open the gas valve. If the Vent
fan prover switch on the Goodman does not prove, it will not let it go to the
ignitor to fire the HSI and then stop at the Gas valve not opening. those little
Plastic Prover switch is something else but if you see the HSI fire it has been
proved to run. if the prover does not prove it will just sit there and blow the
vent fan till the cows comes home and ther HSI will not fire or the burners.

This is the worst list of guestes that i have ever seen by a so call hvac
person.
Also you need to start discussing the hvac business and not tring to flame
respectiable answers of REAL people who own hvac business and work in the
business. You have not yet shown any qualities as to being a good hvac tech or
business owner.
Also i did not see your answer that should be one and it being a roll out switch
..
also you got something wrong here. I'm a HVAC business owner and not just some
Jerk tech you claim to be. Why don't you answer some question here ?

Check the other gas control knob - you know, the one by the gas meter. It's
probably not on, and they usually put some kind of lock on it when they turn
that knob off. The hot water heater is working? Are you sure you just
haven't run it out of water yet? Oh, wait.... You forgot to mention that the
hot water heater runs on electricity.

This is Turtle.
I was reading into it as the click of the gas valve power going to it to open
and not a very low click of the HSI coming on. If you say to me it does
everything but goes up to the last part where the gas burner heats up and burns.
i take it he is past the HSI and near the Gas valve opening.

| It's been a day and the water heater still works. The Pilot light on
it is also still lit. I can check by the gas meter I suppose, but I
would think the light wouldn't be lit. Also some people mentioned roof
work, I haven't had anything done to the roof.

Anything from dried out bearings preventing it from fully ramping up to

On a Goodman?? Don't get out much, huh?
If the installer didn't trim the sensing tube from the pressure switch
on installation of an upflow, a condensate trap results. Water inside a
pressure switch does damage, nes't pas?

LOL!! Amazing how you'll say anything to defend your incompetent buddy,
the Turd-le.
I just ordered a circuit board for GMN060 this morning. Why??
A plugged condensate line for the AC flooded the circuit board,
causing...wait for it...everything to work in proper sequence EXCEPT
that no 110V is being sent to the HSI.

Some points for you to ponder, Turd-le.
The one you call the "software salesman" was once your hero.
You hung on his every word, ever eager to defend him against irate
homeowners and anyone else who said a negative word about him.
You heaped praise on him, spoke of his expertise, practically gave him
online blow jobs everyday!
You longed for his praise, any post from him with your name in it gave you
a woody.
Then, one day, he opened his eyes and pegged you for the dumb hack you are,
and suddenly, he's a know-nothing "software salesman".
Funny how he went from being an expert in your eyes one day, to a salesman
the next, simply because he outed you for what you are.
If it's true what you say, that he doesn't know shit from shine-ola, then
how pathetic is it that a dumb salesman who knows nothing about HVAC can
point out so many of your mistakes.
In other, simpler words for you, someone who isn't even in the trade can
spot your shit a mile away.

you say I sucked up to Paul for his great abilitys and hung on every word he
said because I must have loved him. Come On cat Shit , do you really believe i
cared about Paul with his foul mouth and screwy ways of wanting control of a 2
bit newsgroup. Earth to Cooltemper , I get a long with anybody and everybody can
have their own views of controilling the newsgroup in the future but just don't
expect me to join you in your fight for control when it takes place. Also if he
would have just left me out of it , i usely would not say a word for he would
fail anyway. Paul seen a power structure that in the future as he the head of
this group need to get rid of the Turtle for he might cause him trouble in his
Kingdom of Paul of ALT.HVAC Land. I think Michael Jackson thought the same thing
which Paul and Michael share a lot in common as to building a fairy Tale land of
each of them. Michael Jackson's dream was Neverland Valley and Paul's dream was
CatLand Valley .
2 last thing here. You must have a very up to date supplier or warehouse by
having to order a Goodman board. Every body that has Goodman equipment in the
area will have boards for them in stock like Duct tape.
The Other If you watch a person for making the smallest error in speech or
grammer. you can find everybody with a bunch of errors with enough of time. then
when a non-professional looks at a nother person out of hatred. he will see all
kinds of errors to call a stupid person with. Paul has been out of the field so
long that he can't understand what a field person would speak about and he to
understand it. I think they refer to this as a Office geek or Computor Geek. now
in Pauls case it could be a Trailor House Pussey Geek.

I too would like to give you the thumbs up for defending the respect of Paul
Milligan when he gets called on being stupid and disrespectful. True friend like
you are hard to find in the low life world of trolling where the best trolls are

Oh MY LORD , i did not know that you was suppose to check with paul milligan to
see about where and what newsgroup Home Owners should post in. Paul Where do you
get the time to answer all 6 billion People as to what newsgroup they should
post in. man you are good if you could tell everybody where to post on the
internet.
Earth to Paul , you need to read the FAQ that you wrote a few years ago and call
it the alt.hvac newsgroup FAQ. the first 10 years of it's life there was none to
have but you just made up some. now you need to go back and read the alt.hvac
that you wrote and find in your own words that you will find that home owners
questions are very much a part of this groups intent and was to answer home
owners question.
I can't catch on to this one. First the FAQ says Home owner question are good
here and then out of the blue you state the home owners are not welcome to post
here. Which is it the can post here or they can't post here. if you still say
the Home Owners can't post here your going to have to go back and rewrite the
FAQ and try to make up another charter with a date on it more than a year old .
this way of thinking really puzzles me for i guess it must be some of that Soft
ware salesmen thinking set in motion.

Yes diness , you have stumbled on to a trolling newsgroup but has a respectiable
name on it. You might try next time alt.trolling.idiots and you may get a answer
to your furnace questions.
It would be best to call a service man to look at it than try here with the
trolls of the Year telling you what is wrong with it and maybe screw it up.

Not really. Some are trying to protect an unsuspecting public from thoses
who speak of what they know not, aka, the Turd-le.

thank you, and yes, I am.
Anyway, good luck with your furnace. beware of types like Turd-le who try
so hard to be something they're not capable of being.

Nice try Turd Boy, but you're not fooling anyone anymore, except maybe
Nooner.
The scenario goes like this.....
Turd-le posts wrong information...
Any one of several posters catches Turd-le posting crap and calls him on
it....
Turd Boy, who has now been caught once again, calls the poster a Paul
fan, or Paul's lover, or Paul's minion, or........on and on and on...
But the truth remains unchanged, that being the fact that the Turd Boy
has been caught spouting bullshit again and his only defense, albeit
lame, is to attack the poster as being one of Paul's soldiers, trying to
"take control" of the elusive newsgroup throne!
So instead of backing up his post, like the latest one where he claims
the problem can only be one of three things, he tries to cover up his
ineptness by accusing others of picking on him.
The jig is up, Turd Boy.
You don't have the foggiest when it comes to troubleshooting...
Now bullshiting!!?? That's another story.
OK. Your turn...call me gay, or Paul's minion, or tell us how you've
been doing this for 46 years, or how you own the company, or how I have
so much hate...or it's all a big plot....
whatever...blah...blah...blah...it doesn't change the fact that you
don't know what you're doing.
You might be able to fool some homeowners, but not the techs.

I sure hope you can figure out that the alt.hvac newsgroup is over 10+ years old
and I said Paul rewrote the FAQ for alt.hvac for it had none till last year when
he wrote some and wrote them like he wanted them. Or let me simplify it more.
10+ years ago alt.hvac group was started without Paul or and ade of him at all.
There was no charter and no FAQ at all.
The Charter that was suppose to be for another group was was doubled over for
alt.hvac for it had none but no body moved them over or even spoke about moving
it to alt.hvac. So No Charter or original FAQ at all.
Cooltemperature please stop the liing in public like this with everybody reading
what you write.

Not even close to knowing anything about me.
But I'm curious, honestly.
Why would anyone in the trade, who knows the difference between motor
oil and vaccuum pump oil,.... or a point-of-contact temperature sensor
as opposed to wrapping one hand around a beer can and the other around a
suction line,.... or installing the proper parts on a refrigeration
system instead of leaving out the parts you don't recognize or
understand....or knowing that a fan/limit control measures air temp that
passes by the exchanger and not the flue gas....why would anyone who
knows the difference between these things defend someone like the Turd-
le, who doesn't?
Feel sorry for him?
Then send him money to attend an HVAC course, but don't defend his
idiocy.
