I recently aquired a 94 Ford Mustang. The coolant low ligt was on and
upon further investigation I found that the low pressure service port
was broken. (If I take the cap off I get a literal jet of r134. There
should have been a video of that one.) Does anyone have a good
solution that a reasonably intelligent person could apply that would be
reasonably environmentally firendly as well? (Aside from letting a pro
do the job, or spending a lot of money on equipment.)

Thanks

Try sitting on the port when you take the cap off.

JD before we can even get started you need to tell what tools you have to work
with or any . Then i could say what might be done but till then there is no way
of starting a fix of any kind. To get the right tools it would be about $200.00+
start.

Sounds like you either need to replace the core, or maybe the entire low
side line. Then you need to evacuate the air, vacuum to remove water. Since
the system has been opened, you oughta replace the filter drier. Pressurize
with a test charge, and check for leaks. Add a few ounces more lubricating
oil for the compressor. And then charge with a weighed ammount of
refrigerant.

All you need is a replacement core, set of manifold gages, vacuum pump,
refrigerant scale, leak detector, replacement vapor line, replacement filter
dryer, wrenches, and an EPA card.

No problem!

Stormy, Just how is he to get the core replaced if the cap is holding back
the charge? I think you left out one of the most expensive tools to fix
this, and its a lot more than $200... I just laid out $1700 for one of
them....

For some time many of us have wondered just who is Jack Schitt?
We find ourselves at a loss when some one says, "You don't know Jack
Schitt!"
Well, thanks to my genealogy efforts, you can now respond in an intellectual
way.

Jack Schitt is the only son of Awe Schitt. Awe Schitt, the fertilizer
magnate, married O. Schitt, the owner of Needeep N. Schitt, Inc. They
had one son, Jack.

In turn, Jack Schitt married Noe Schitt. The deeply religious couple
produced six children: Holie Schitt, Giva Schitt, Fulla Schitt, Bull
Schitt, and the twins, Deap Schitt and Dip Schitt. Against her parents'
objections, Deap Schitt married Dumb Schitt, a high school drop-out.

After being married 15 years, Jack and Noe Schitt divorced. Noe Schitt
later married Ted Sherlock, and because her kids were living with them,
she wanted to keep her previous name. She was then known as Noe
Schitt-Sherlock.

Meanwhile, Dip Schitt married Loda Schitt and they produced a son with
a rather nervous disposition named Chicken Schitt.

Two of the other six children, Fulla Schitt and Giva Schitt, were
inseparable throughout childhood and subsequently married the Happens
brothers in a dual ceremony. The wedding announcement in the newspaper
anounced the Schitt-Happens nuptials. The Schitt- Happens children were
Dawg, Byrd, and Hoarse.

Bull Schitt, the prodigal son, left home to tour the world. He recently
returned from Italy with his new Italian bride, Pisa Schitt.

Now when some one says,"You don't Know Jack Schitt" you can correct
them.

Sincerely, Crock O. Schitt

There was a mugging ring up here, a couple weeks ago. They had a naked gal
who would jump out from the bushes and start washing the windshield like the
squeege kids in Bangledesh. And then a couple other guys would steal the
ladder off the roof, or the hub caps or something.

Well, they got me once the first day. Once the second day. The third day I
had to drive around for an hour before they got me.
