Author old peerless boiler issues
I R Baboon

2005-10-30, 9:21 am

I have a old (guessing 1960's) peerless boiler for my hot water heat. the
problem is, when I light the pilot light it stays lit, the burners fire up
for 1 cycle, then when the house is up to temp, the safeties kick everything
off. sounds like a big switch is being thrown in the electrical system. just
had boiler serviced last winter, replaced the thermocouple, had the wiring
checked out by a electrician friend. he couldn't find anything. a new boiler
is out of the question as well as having some overpaid repairman out to fix
it. that's where I come to you guys. don't tell me WOAH shut it off or you
will blow up or some useless crap like that. there is no danger from that.
as I mentioned, the safeties work 100%

Problem 1 is that its old....they only build them to last 20 or so years.
Problem 2 is that you refuse to have it serviced by a *competent*, licensed,
insured, professionally trained, HVAC technician.
Problem 3 is that it is cycling off on safeties.
Problem 4 is that you don't have a clue about what is dangerous or not.
Problem 5 is that if ignorance is bliss, then you must be euphoric.

Have a nice day

1 yes its old. but it was also made in a time where things could easily be
fixed, parts replaced.
2 i prefer to do everything in my house by myself. if this truly isnt
something that cant be fixed then i will go the new boiler route
3 safeties are good. that means those at least still work 100%
4 you must be one of those overpaid heating guys i mentioned before

Dont be such an idiot, Baboon,
You cant work on EVERYTHING in your home by yourself.
Call a professional, NOT a friend or buddy.
Why would you replace it if it can be fixed?
Sometimes you homemoaners are so stupid and pissy.

what if the friend or buddy is a professional. the guy who looked at the
electrical aspect of it is a licensed electrician (home electricity is not
rocket surgery) ive access to many different trades at work. ive talked to a
few of the hvac guys at work, but i keep getiing different answers and they
seem kinda shady to begin with. i know it can be fixed.

Go post in alt.home/repair, not here.

BTW, you're asking a bunch of 'over paid repairmen' to give
you the results of their many years of hard work and study for free,
while you insult them for their work. So go fuck yourself.

No, its not and you cant even manage that simple aspect now, can you?
Again, to clarify your intelligence, ....Why would you have an
"electrician" diagnose your boiler?
Would you also call in a plumber to change your light switch?
Do you see a dentist to examine your prostate?

Its nice to know that you work in such a nice job where all of your
co-workers are "shady". Is that where you learned to be such and
untrusting XXXXXXX?
Maybe your "shady" co-workers just know what kind of cheap bastard you
are and they dont want anything to do with you when it comes to doing
free work at home. Even if they managed to get it right you seem to be
the type that would still XXXXX to them about something.

THAT COULD BE YOUR PROBLEM. THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN SOME WIRING,
TRANSFORMERS, SWITCHES, RELAYS, ETC. IN THE CONTROL PANEL.

Well, actually Turtle, I didnt read it that way. Like Ive said before,
sometimes the translation gets screwed up in typing since you cant

However, If I were here to gather friends only, Id have left a long

A litle careful perusal, more than Weasel is capable of, who
show that I wasn't replying to Bubba at all.

Of coures, that would require tha ability to actually read
