The General Accounting Office is managing renovation and rebuilding
contracts for damaged structures in Iraq and in New Orleans. In many cases,
structures require complete re-building and re-engineering. Bids being
solicited include Structural, Electrical, Plumbing and Sanitation, HVAC and
physical plant categories. Due to the demand for services, qualification
requirements have been relaxed, requiring only one licensed on staff
Professional Engineer or degreed engineer in the field of service. To
assist bidders who have no previous experience outside of the United
States, a special office has been created to familiarize bidders with cost
estimation and procedures for operation in Iraq.
