I just decided to forward an email I got that I thought was funny, that's
all.
I really have no justification, nor inclination, for researching a joke
email befor posting it.
However I do believe that one should verify data that is posted as advice,
such as in here, especially when such said advice could cause irreperable

I think the point was that if we threatened to do any of this or
started even one of them the world would be singing a different tune in no
time.

Dreamers!

Before we tell the world to go to hell we better:

Stop using so much stuff. Thgat means oil, cheap electronics, cheap
clothes, etc. The only thing we make here in abundance is food, and
that is with fertilizers made from foreign oil!!! If you shut our
borders and stop all imports, our standard of living will drop so fast
it will make your head spin!

Bring back our manufacturing industries, especially heavy manufacturing
and clothes! Until that we can't stop buying foreign stuff because we
make so little here. Look at our balance of payments. How many
$Billions a month is our trade balance deficit? We can't live on what
we make here anymore. And, yes, republicans are as much to blame as
democrats.

Start paying 5 times as much for everything, because that is what it
will cost if we start making our own TVs, PCs, copiers, adding
machines, newsprint, consumer goods, appliances, etc.

Quit buying big cars and SUVs. Not to please the tree huggers, but
because that is where a lot of imported stuff goes. (Not just the
oil).

Balance the federal budget! Not in 10 years, not in 5 years, not in 1
year, but NOW!!!!. or better yet ..... 10 years ago!
When you tell the world to go to hell and they call in their loans,
that have been supporting our government and standard of living for the
last 40 years, where will you be?! And if you default on our loans,
what will you use to pay the military, the police & fire men, GWB &
everybody else in the government next week????????

It sounds good but is just so much BAR TALK!!!

We have been spending more than we have made, as a country and as a
people, for 40 YEARS!!!

We are in NO Position to tell any one to go F themselves till we fix
our problems here at home, And what will you do when the computer that
you are accessing this NG with breaks and you call the support line,
and the guy on the other end of the line in India tells you to go F
yourself right back??

If we wanted to tell the world to f off, just after WWII would have
been the time. Now we can't make it stick. It is just so much BULL!!!

If you want to change it back, cut up all your credit cards, start
saving money, quit buying things you can't afford and don't need, and
get a car with 100 MPG fuel economy. Or start riding a bicycle to
work. It will be better for the environment, better for you, better
for our balance of payments. Of course the economy will tank, but that
is coming anyway.

We are screwed either way, and most of that we can blame on ourselves.
It took us 40 years to get in this mess and it will take us 40 years to
get out of it! That is if we really want to.

Cut the bar talk & get to work.

Stretch

Now that is the finest bit of thinking I've read on the Usenet in a LONG
time.

Stretch, have you ever read P.J. O'Rourke's "Parliament of Whores"? He
said the same thing when it was published years ago, and predicted
nobody would listen... and they haven't.

The American public has been conditioned that our government is the "Big
Rock Candy Mountain"... and it costs all of us that try to make a honest
living.

Now I've gotta buy you a beer sometime (-;. After WORK, of course!

BS, pure speculation and way over the top.

OK, for argument if we needed it, we would make it here.

Wrong, if they were made here it would help the economy.

The cost of gov. would go way down if we stopped providing welfare and
policing for the rest of the world.

> It sounds good but is just so much BAR TALK!!!

Duh??? That was the whole point, just BS'ing and having a beer after
work... One of the premises of this group as I understand it.

And we still have the highest standard of living in the world/per
capita.

That is part of the whole point of not being an isolationist country,
India is basically a welfare nation to the US.

>

Nothing is impossible, but as a practical point isolationism can be
very detrimental to a nation. However being to open and compassionate to
every failing, poverty stricken, starving and strife filled nation is not an
option that we can continue to bare.

We had better remove our dependency on foreign oil no matter what we do
in the future or we can expect to see a very troubled economic future.

What mess? We are doing pretty good as far as I can tell. I don't see
how grabbing a pile of shit and throwing it against the wall and see what
sticks, makes much of an argument against not playing the patsy for the rest
of the world.

Damn Stretch, take a pill and try to make one argument at a time. This
sounded like what the liberals would do, throw out a lot of crap hoping to
muddy the water and go on the rampage. And who cares what the truth is or
what the topic is as long as someone is besmirched.

I don't disagree with your points here but it was a bit of overkill and
all over the place.

> Cut the bar talk & get to work.

An Irishman, an Englishman and a Scot were sitting in a bar. The view was
fantastic, the beer excellent, the food exceptional.

"Y'know" said the Scotsman, "I still prefer the pubs back home. Why in
Glasgow there's a little bar called McTavish's. Now the landlord there goes
out of his way for the locals so much that when you buy 4 drinks he will buy
the 5th drink for you."

"Well" said the Englishman, "At my local, the Red Lion, the barman there
will buy you your 3rd drink after you buy the first 2."

"Ahhh that's nothin'" said the Irishman. "Back home in Dublin there's Ryan's
Bar. Now the moment you set foot in the place they'll buy you a drink, then
another, all the drinks you like. Then when you've had enough drinks they'll
take you upstairs and see that you get laid. All on the house."

The Englishman and Scotsman immediately pour scorn on the Irishman's claims.

He swears every word is true.

Well" said the Englishman, "Did this actually happen to you?"

Not me myself, personally, no," said the Irishman. "But it did happen to me
sister, several times!"

IMO, sometimes its good to take a break or a 'time-out'.

And for anyone that takes all this usenet bullshit too seriously.....man you
need to go see a fucking shrink or something right now--cause it's not worth
it.

Really, its not.
