How does one break into the hvac field after trade school.
Employers want 3 to 5 years experience and are reluctant to take on newbies.
Any ideas guys?

Tell them it's smarter to hire you than compete against you.

I would rather have a guy that hasn't yet been polluted by other companies
ways. He would need exceptional people skills, a total understanding of
theory, clean driving record, and no disturbing vices.

Grab your local phone book, and call every single hvac contractor listed in it.
Tell them your situation, that you're a recent tech school grad and will do
whatever it takes to get a job. Take any job they offer.

Go to www.hvacagent.com and fill out a resume. Start applying for jobs, both
for tech's and installers.

Contractors want clean dmv's, background checks, and drug testing.

There is such a shortage of techs that during the hottest part of the
year, a lot of employers here will hire someone right out of school who
has the right attitude. Also, don't overlook large employers (mfg.,
hospitals, etc.) who hire in-house staff for refrig. That'll give you
some hands-on that is not all that much hard work.
