just about 4 days work.
No wonder they use there truck to try to swim to America -
can't get no gas to put in 'em anyway .....

At present, many families with an income of 280 pesos a month, on the
medium range of the pay scale, can afford to exchange 80 pesos for 4
dollars which will buy them a litre (quart) of vegetable oil, a
kilogram (2 pounds) of flour and several bars of soap, all in short
supply in the peso stores.
Rice = 5 pesos / lb ( ~ 4.5 cents )
5 pesos for a pound of rice; 8 pesos a pound of beans; 5 pesos for a
bunch of onions; 3 pesos a pound of cucumbers
What do Cubans pay monthly for their utilities?
Gas bills average 2-4 pesos (8-16 cents) a month; electricity 5-7
pesos (20-28 cents) a month; telephone 6-8 pesos (24-32 cents) a
month, the first 300 minutes being free. As you can see, all these
services are subsidized by the State.
Because of the shortage and high cost of personal hygiene articles,
the State provides all employees in the public service sector with a
free bag of toiletries every month
For how much is Cuba suing the USA?
The people of Cuba are demanding that the U.S. pay them $181.1 billion
for the loss of Cuban lives and the injuries of individuals since the
Revolution (over 3,000 dead and over 2,000 injured), and for numerous
acts of aggression towards the State since then.
( note - that works out to ~ $ 45,000,000 / Cuban, if you count
'injured' at 1/2 rate of 'dead' )
( THIS one is a laugh !!!! )
Why are Cubans so tolerant and law-abiding?
Harsh jail conditions certainly act as a deterrent for would-be
lawbreakers. Also, Cubans are a patient breed of people who control
their tempers very well.
( Yeh - right - let's all go down to Little Suba in Miami, or
any town that has one, and see about that !! )

Well, being pedantic it's not a tax it's a licence -although it's collected
by a separate authority and the money goes into the national 'pot' and the
g.ment gives the BBC a budget which isn't necessarily related.
So basically it is a tax but we're not allowed to call it that.
However on the point in question -no one household can have as many TV's as
they wish under one licence.
Personally having watched American TV is action with it's numerous ad breaks
product placement etc the enjoyment soon goes out of actually watching.
Luckily we tend to get some of the best -Soprano's being one which
immediately springs to mind- without suffering the format you poor sod's
have let happen...
I.E the umpire being told by the station boss when he can blow to re-start a
game ,ad breaks before and after the credits etc etc

Was curious about that tho....I had heard it, and wanted to hear it
firsthand from someone that would know.
I prefered the way TV was in Germany back when I was at MBB--now Airbus....a
30 minute block of commercials that were actually interesting enough to
watch.

dead now. There was 5 of them as auto wrecks got 2 of them, 2 got it with guns,
and one got it with a boat driving it into the river Bridge Concrete Leg at 70
MPH at nite.

I never said I did not like anybody that is gay but I will say I or any of my
friends just let them do their thing but somewhere else.
