| Ok, my split system heat pump isn't doing anything a/c was fine in
summer . Live in Mid-Atlantic states, it's COLD out. My thermostat
switched itself to emergency heat. Solid light not blinking. Heat pump
doesn't turn on When switched to heat, but if I switch the thermostat
to A/C it works. Model # isE1RA030S06D. Please help me out here, with
somethin besides " contact your York serviceman"
God Bless You and
Thanks in advance

Okay,
DONT contact your York serviceman. Sit in your house and freeze your
XXX off. Hopefully your water pipes will freeze and when it thaws it
will flood your shack.
God Bless your stupid XXX.
Your Welcome

No.
Why ?
Because you don't have the tools or the knowledge to work on
it.

Well, AS a York dealer, that is your best advice.
YOU didnt give NEAR enough information to tell you what is wrong with it.
SERIAL number would help greatly, as they used a couple of different setups
depending on the plant the unit was made.
Thermostats dont switch to emergency by themselves...not even full auto
changeover ones....you are prob running with an error code, and its gone to
2nd stage.
Post a serial, and that would help at least know what board you have in the
outer unit, and might even have a recall or something on it..

You need some more Freon added. Also make sure you have a new digital
thermostat. Don't use a cheap one.

Could even be under warranty. Post the model and the serial number. We can
tell a whole lot more with that information.

| most heat pumps have an outdoor thermostat that will not let heat pump
run if it is below a certain temperature outside. This keeps heat pump
from blowing uncomfortably cold air and defrosting too often. j
How cold is it outside?

This is not a home-owner advice forum.
Take it to alt.home.repair.

Did you hear about the time the 7 Dwarves requested an
interview with the Pope ?
When they got in front of him, the head Dwarf spoke up and
said 'Holy Father, we only have one question. Do Nuns have wings ?'
The Pope said "No, my son, they do not'.
'Are you sure, Father ?'
'Yes, I'm sure. Nuns don't have wings.'
All the Dwarves except one fell out laughing.
The Pope asked what they were laughing at ?
They responded : "Dopey fucked a Penguin ! Dopey fucked a
Penguin !"
