All better now, bad outdoor piston. Hard to find too. Took one from an old
evap coil, put it in and now getting at least a 3.0 COP

Getting about 30º TD inside at 55º outside with a 250 head... not too bad at
11 amps.

Talked to Bob Coffey about it. (met him on another job). He said to expect
at least 3 to 1 on the heat side and about an 8 on cooling for a 1988
Carrier... and he confirmed they didn't have a true suction port on the
older units. ( I put one in this one while I had it open )

I find it ironic that even a 13 SEER HP still only has a 3.5 COP.

Wondering if HP technology is not keeping up, or if HPs have always been the
more efficient technology.

Not bad.........I guess?? As a comparison, my 14 SEER at 55 outside
does:
31.7 TD, 9.8 amps, 3.76 COP at a 246psi head
