In my experience, generally there's a split pillow type bearing carrier,
where the larger cfm belt driven units are concerned...hell, let him
dissasemble and inspect....because you'll never know what's in there unless
you have the actual service records...
"Guessing"....even taking into consideration the prior service application
is...well...still just a guess......
Without giving it much additional thought, I'd be compelled to suggest that
probably centrifugal forces would tend to have the minimum volumetric
airflow at the shaft centerline, with both prop-fan as well as the squirrel
cage type blower design.

If it easily turns with no noise it's probably fine <G>.
But what to do with them after he grabs the motors?
Buy new motors & try to resell them?

Sounds like scrap heap time to me...after all, thats where he got em from to
begin with, no ???
Or, maybe make a nice street sweeper with a Chysler Hemi as the prime
mover...
