| I just noticed that the cap that prevents water from going through my
air handler vent in my roof has blown off. And we have had some rain
lately. How bad is this? Does this mean that water has gone straight to
the unit? Apart from putting the cap back on, what do I need to do?
Thanks in advance for your advice.

IMMEDIATELY, get out of the house!!
It is going to blow up! The water, electricity and refrigerant have
now made a dangerous volatile mixture.
Run for your Life!

| I would not worry to much about it
however you should put some type of screen on
your chimney if that is what you are talking about.
because I do not think that your air handler
vents on top of your roof unless your condenser is
located inside but then you must have in and out air
"not ideal setup"
Good luck fro Dido

| Thanks Dido. The air handler is located in my attic (2nd Flr), and
vents out to the roof.

Is it an air handler or a furnace? if its a furnace, moisture may
short out the circuit board and other controls. If its an air handler
for a heat pump, its probably a fresh air intake, wich still should be
screen and covered.
Bottom line, get it fixed asap before something else breaks.

You have quite an obsession with "new meat." You seem like the type
that finds quite a bit of that at truck stops, public men's toilets,
rest stops etc.
ps. Sorry I pissed you off, please write back or have your truck stop
buddies here write back with more stupid comments.
