My digital thermostat does not seem to be working. It will not click on

to tell my furnace to heat the house. I have replaced the batteries and

that didnt help, checked all my breakers and they are all fine. I use
hot water to heat my house and i am still getting hot water so i am
sure that it is probably not a problem with the furnace itself. any
suggestions? it is 4am here on a sunday morning and i dont want to call

in a service repairman if it is something that i could do myself and
that i may not be thinking of checking. any suggestions would be
appreciated.

If you called me at 4 in the am, you'd get a call back around 8:00
when I woke up and had my coffee.

Just keep being a cheap fuck, freezing your XXX off while you look for
free help on the internet. If that doesn't work then replace the
thermostat wires. It's almost always the thermostat wires in your
case.

Your digital thermostat has gone bad. I'll bet you have one of those cheap
ones that HVAC companies like to install.

Go down to Lowes or Home Depot and get a new one. Digital thermostats are
pretty much "you get what you pay for" so you should probably buy the most
expensive one they have. (Don't worry-the expensive ones save a lot more
energy and it will pay for itself in less than six months.)

Digital thermostats are very easy to install. They are not rocket science.
Most have directions inside the package that anyone can read.

Report back on how you do. We love to hear good feedback from DYIs who
get-r-done.
