New cased A-coil and furnace (alignment)

| Re: New cased A-coil and furnace (alignment)
'allo,
I recently had a contractor replace my old Carrier
furnace, etc with lo-end Heil eqpt.
The matching cased A-coil unit sits slightly akilter on the furnace.
Viewing from the front, the coil unit is flush on the left side.
Extends about 1/4 " over the furnace edge on the right. On the
front and back, one corner is flush and the other is 1/4" off.
How do the cased A-coil units fit onto the furnace? Are
they supposed to align perfectly?
I've paid the contractor (evidently a mistake on my part,
should've held back something), and am wondering if
this constitutes poor workmanship that might justify
a BBB complaint. As near as I can tell, they didn't do a
very good job except on the plenum, which *looks* good, but
might be the reason the A-coil doesn't align.
Any/all suggestions/info much appreciated.
Cheers,
Puddin'

you bought bottom of the barrel crap, WTF do you expect?
whine to the BBB about the manufacturer of the equipment, not to the
contractor who merely installed the crap you wanted.
you sir, are one whiney cheap fuck. be thankful you found any
contractor willing to put up with your ignorance and stupidity.

| Coils are often not "centered" in replacement or new installations and
there is typically about a 2 inch area on each side of the coil base
that does not necessarily have to be in the air stream. This will not
effect the efficiency of the unit. What will effect the efficiency of
the coil is if all the air is not deverted through the coil? This is
often a sore spot with poor installations, I have seen many coils
installed with only a rail for the coil to set on. I like to make up
and use a coil pan (sheet metal) This is cut to the inside dim. of your
plenum and has a hole cut to the size of the bottom of the coil, we
also mark the hole to allow a 1 inch fold up into the coil.
A new plenum may have been an answer, but when the cost is added in for
the additional labor and material, many choose not to have it done.
I'd think you'd do more good to spead your dissatisfaction to your
neighbors, then to the BBB. Without seeing the job, it's hard to say,
poor work or too high of "quality" expections for what you decided on
spending. Why did you choose this particular contractor? Did you price
shop? Many customers choose the lowest cost contractor and then are not
satisfied with the quality of the job? Did you ask for refferences? How
long in the business?

A "matching CASED A-coil" unit?

Per the original post, the new plenum was made/installed.
It connects to the *top* of the matching CASED A-coil unit
and the old ductwork very nicely. Its the mating to the
furnace thats off.

Neighbors? Beat me on that one.

No BBB complaints in 3 years. Implied emphasis on quality
install. Price. 2 years labor.

Yes.

Since something like 1950. Very sizable shop, commercial and
residential.
