Author 24 V LED Trannie Lamps

I have a control panel with approx 100 trannie lamps. Each lamp has the
same feed but is switched through sperate relays onto each lamp
depending on its desired function. i.e Pump trip, Pump run, Boiler
Fault Panel Live etc. However a sinlge nuetral runs in series around
all lamps then terminates on the common netral bar next to the isloter.

The problem ive got is that lamps at the end of the neutral run seem to
be creating an excess heat build up to the point where the chrome
bezels on the faisca become to hot to touch. This is shortening the
life of the suppossed 60000 hour lamps to all of a week. Any
suggestions?

Originally I thought it was a bad batch of lamps and so i replaced them
all but the same things keep on happening.

Do i need to wire each lamp back to the nuetral bar.

I sure hope you mean parallel.

You need to check the voltage and current draw.

could be your problem right there.

100 or 10?

I'm assuming they're not push to test and the neutrals are daisy
chained wire/terminal/wire vs. two neutrals crimped into a fork?

Have you tried tightening up all the screws?

Are these lamps ON longer than the others? If the transformers are
getting way hot (use a temp gun) and the bulbs are not brighter then
the others (or not on ) you'll need to voltage check and amp draw the
lamps.

Is this an older panel or new?

And I missed the whole "LED" part...

It terminates in a Peril ell fitting.

wild XXX guess,

is it a neutral?? or is it grounded to the frame somewhere.

I assume by the subject heading that you're using LED lamps with a
transformer located at each lamp housing.

Your problem sounds an awful lot like a open neutral somewhere. You'll
have to check them all. Take a meter, hook one lead to your source hot
leg and check each and every neutral connection for a voltage drop. I'll
bet good money that somewhere you'll find one that reads low... like
half the expected voltage.

You really need to get that thing on a PLC, my friend. If you have to
annunciate 100 points with lamps... that's too many. A computer should
be monitoring for trips and faults.

Number One check you voltage
24vdc lamps will not last very long
if are use on 27-28 vac. if this lamps are power
directly of 27vac transformer you need to add
one rectifier on common side make sure that you
add all the lams total current so that you rectifier (diode)
can handle the current you install.
And yes heat does limit life of any light bulb or lamp.
good luck from Dido
