Author goodman 4ton system

Hey, I have an all goodman system, Gmnt100-4 furnace, u-49 coil, and a
clt48-1a compressor. This replace a heil heat only system. Heat works
great but the a/c doesn't. I't will not cool down the house. 2 techs
said the charge was good. 1 tech didn't know what was wrong, the other
says the u49 coil is too small for the clt48 (13seer) compressor. He
said even though there both 4 ton, the u49 was made for a 10seer
compressor. He want to replace the coil w/ a 5 ton. Are they not
compadible? Is this the right thing to do? I was wondering if the duct
work in the house was too small and I'd be better off with a 3.5 ton
compressor w/ the 4ton coil. Any Ideas? Running the a/c w/ the cover
off the furnace doesn't help, I guess that mean it has enough returned
air. It doesn't freeze up. Thanks

Maybe you should dispense with the Goodman crap, and the idiots you have
been calling that are learning how to work on them, using yours for
practice.

Call a *competent*, licensed, insured, professionally trained, HVAC
technician to install a correctly sized, top quality system, with properly
designed, and correctly designed ductwork. It will be the best money you
ever spent. When its done right, the system will maintain no more than a 1
degree temperature difference between any 2 rooms, it will be so quiet that
you won't even be aware that its running, and you will have the lowest
heating and cooling bills on the block. Wanna talk money?? ok... try this on
for size... If the new system pays for itself in energy savings over 5
years, and the normal design service life of the systrem is 20 years, then
if it cost $8,000 for the new system, then after the system has paid for
itself in energy savings, its possible that you could save an additional
$24,000 on your energy bills over the life of the system.

Does that give you idea enough?? or would you like to buy a clue??

We really don't have enough information. Would be nice to know the
gage pressures, and some of that. The couple times I've worked on
Goodman systems, they were in desperate need of having the coils
cleaned. When I finished with my professional coil cleaning, the
systems worked a LOT better. When was the last time your outdoor coil
was cleaned?

Stormins idea of a service.
Purple stuff or Simple Green on the coil...not coils...coil.
Slap a manifold on..RIGHT after the wash....reads the thing right after it
fires up...yup..its low..add more juice...
Your done...$300 please..
Freaking hack.

We know nothing about your conditions from here!

Some power companies will do a heat-gain heat-loss on your home!
There is a good chance your equipment is oversized and also screwed up,
by so-called techs!

How big in square footage is your home and where do you live?

Do NOT do anything until you know the present system is functioning
properly!
It seems to me that irrespective of a mismatch of the coils, it ought to
cool your home, appears messed-up!

Make certain that it has the correctly sized metering device to the
evaporator.
(A TXV would be best.)

The U-49 will work but you just give up the 13 seer rating with the
CLT-48. you would have to get a U-60 to match it up to get the 13 seer.

I'm thinking you need to get some quality Tech to look at this to tell
you why it will not work. the U-49 and a CLT-48 will work fine but if
it does not work, you need a Quality tech to tell you what is the
problem. quality Help is hard to find now a days.
