I built something similar out of drywall when I was nineteen. It was a
little more complicated, with lower coffered sections and no trim. A
buddy's dad was in construction and the two of us were his minions The
dad wanted to renovate his master bedroom and we thought we could do
it. Weeks later.... I didn't think I would ever want to look at
sheetrock again. Pretty cool to look at when you're done, but a XXXXX
going up, and the amount of spackling involved was godawful.

Well, at least you have that under your belt.
Wish I did.
They look cool.

Click on the Vladislav hall image. Remember, it's cut and sculpted
limestone, from the 14th century. No computers, no power drills.

That is one of the hardest vaults to build. I put them in my larger custom
homes sometimes.

A couple of years ago, I met this guy who was a mechanical a/c sheet metal
fabricator. He was on a jobsite and the framers who were supposed to do an
arch didnt show up and he said "I could build that out of metal". The rest
is history. I spec his product on most of my homes now. The arches are
uniform and go up quicker and easier. I dont have to worry about someone
cutting the plywood uneven. Drywall goes on nice and easy too. Took alot
of the headaches out of the construction process, fewer calls from the
contractor(s).
