Just occurred to me that back in the old days, before street lights or
economical electrical exterior lighting, the interior light being broadcast
through the windows of the *lantern* would serve as sort of a land based
*lighthouse* so the home could be seen at a distance, which would help out
when trying to find the home at night time. So, in that regard the term
Lantern seems totally appropriate.
