I just won an auction on Ebay for a 2001 Gibson Les Paul Custom(Black
Beauty of course). Got it for under 2K which was my goal.
Whoo Hoo..

BTW, did you ever win that PRS. Since I didn't, I assumed you'd won
it. ;-)

Nice. Very nice. You lucky dawg.
dwhmdpc tried to give you a run for the money.

Yeah, I won it and played it at a large outside review in Frisco last
weekend.
I played it exclusively, except for some acoustic stuff, and it held up
well.
I wasn't surprised, they aren't pricey for the helluvit.
I'd prefer an LP though.

Oh yeah, after the last set on Sat night I threw the well shredded dragon
into the crowd and hauled XXX....<>

Actually, that guy was the high bidder for about 4 days, although I'm
not sure why you would even bother bidding on it that early. Silly. I
was lying in the weeds until about 5 minutes left in the auction. I
outbid him, and then with less than a minute left he outbid me. I
think my final bid went in with less that 30 seconds left. Step off
biatch. ;-)

This was the third one I've bid on this week, but the first time the
price came out right. There's another one on there that's a 2003,
never taken out of the box, that I really wanted to take a shot at.
It's still got a few days left, but that baby's gonna skyrocket before
it's all said and done.

Better too live a day as a lion, than a thousand as a lamb. Or
something like that. ;-)

Thats my technique too - put it on the watch list, do the research and see
what others are selling for, then in the last 10 seconds slam the BIG hammer
on it.
Very effective.

Ditto for the technique... works "almost" everytime

Back about 99 or so, when I had Roadrunner, I achieved legendary status
among the ebay elite.
(they didn't have the 'watch page' back then, you had to lay a paltry bid
just to get in the game)
I'd actually set a digital clock with ebay time, right down to the second.
I'd start tapping my foot when there was 30 seconds left, and then right
when that last second is getting ready to roll over, when all possible bids
have been laid....

.....Ka-Whooomf-Ah.....

No, and its not necessary as far as I can tell.
My unique feedback is 346 and most of that was freelance sniping.
Been doing ebay since about 98 I think.

Back about 96 my cousin told me about Ebay and described it as an online
auction. I never heard of it before. I formed a mental picture of the old
in-person type auction where someones liquidating their house full of junk
and didn't really become interested in the online version. A couple years
later someone in a guitar newsgroup told me that a stick I was looking for
was on auction at Ebay. I dashed on over there, saw the culprit and it was
going to end in about an hour, signed up, slammed a last minute bid and that
stick is about 48" from my fingertips right now.

Don't do much with ebay anymore but I use it all the time to find a ballpark
on what any particular thing will cost. A quick reference tool.
