Anyone have a suggestion on either a printer or copier that does 11x17
printing/copying? we're a small firm - just wondering if other small
firms out there have any economical solutions to this. They all seem
pretty pricy..

Thanks!

I use a Xante with dual trays for 8,5 x 11 & 11x17.
I bought it new in 1995 and it is still working well.
Replaced a roller in 2001 & there have been a couple of jamed paper
incidents with heavy stock.
Xante now produces a printer marketed as capable of handling heavy
stock.
I'm saving my money for a Xante color printer.

I have a Gestetner (really a Ricoh). Works great. 35 ppm. All copier
are digital now, but make sure you get the card to hook it up to your
network to use as a printer. When you need 10X copies of something,
you don't print and copy, you just print 10X copies and get all
originals.

I bought mine a few years back, used. It had just under 200,000 copies
on it but had been well serviced (on a contract) are pretty much
rebuilt. Those things are rated at like 12,000 copies per month, which
is way more than I do, so I didn't really mind the copies because I
wasn't going to run anywhere near that number.

If you have a copier, call that company (if you like/trust them) and
ask them to see what's coming out of somewhere else in the near future.
Tell them what you want and they'll come across it.

I just googled it. I didn't buy from this company, but this is what I
have:
http://www.duplicatorsales.net/prod...lY3JldDEyMDM%3D

I don't have the scanner feature (but wish I did), nor the finisher,
nor the fax. Without the finisher, if you make multiple copies it just
prints 1 stack 1 direction and the next the other, which works good.

PS, think there a Savin name for this same copier.

HP's are pretty expensive, but easy to work with. We bought a Konica
Minolta 7300, with the duplexer. It works great... Not as many
"features" as an HP, but it works great straight out of AutoCAD. Manual
feed could be better. The new version is a 7350.

We love our HP cp1700.
Inkjet, color, 13x19 (can print D sheets at 1/2 scale!)
$500.

OK, where exactly does one get 13x19 paper?
I've had the HP 1220C ($500 (2) ink cartridges) for 5 years or so now and I
have never been able to find paper that size.
11x17 yes, 13x19 no.

Epson makes some photo paper that size (I've got a box of it on my desk).

We went with a color laser because of the consumables cost. Even with
the higher price for toner/drums/etc., our actual per page cost was
75-80% less than with an ink jet. Ink for our HP450 is affordable...ink
for regular ink jets is not...

There's an echo in here, here, here.

My MIL just bought an HP printer for $99 and it came with 2 cartridges.
At that price its almost to the point that when it runs out of ink you just
throw it away and get another one.
Kinda like Ryobi cordless drills.
