I think the only place "Lane sharing" is legal is in California, so go
for it. Motorcycle Safety Foundation has a great motorcycle safety
course for people just starting out (and people seeking to learn more).
They even provide the bikes for the class.

More like, Americans would have to get used to accepting the fact that,
if you ride a non-enclosed conveyance, you might arrive at your
destination wet. Meaning, "unkempt".

Just imagine:
an aggressively-driven Hummer inevitably impacting a scooter
I've seen people on scooters, and have actually thought about getting
one myself, for small gorcery trips. But there are just *so* many
humongotrucks/megasuvs being driven by stupid, self-obsessed, overly-
aggressive, "me first dammit" careless a-holes; I don't relish the
thought of me and my scooter ending up being scraped out of some
Hummer's grillwork bit by bit with a dental pick...
