Instead of putting in lots of legs, or have the standard 4" recessed toe
kick, is there any disadvantage on building the cabinets such that the
bottom support is recessed 1/3 to 1/2 in from the face of the cabinets so
the toe kick is not as apparent to give it more of a floating look? Other
than the fact the boxes need to be custom build hence more cost? or may be
harder to clean underneath since it's recessed further in?

_May_ be harder to clean...? I think you meant a pain in the XXX to
keep clean.

If the boxes are being custom made you could hang them off of the
wall. I wouldn't do that, but you could.

I think you should revisit the toe kick idea. There are many ways to
dress it up so it will be an interesting detail instead of a
utilitarian (not the religion) detail.

Yeah, and if I'm getting it right, doesn't that floating feeling come from
no visible means of support AKA deeper recess?

You taking new cabinets or old, existing ones?
Either way it depends on how the carcasses are constructed.
Its possible I suppose to do a full cantilever but I wouldn't advise it
without some serious foresight.
Also, if you intend to go with solid surface or granite, etc., consider all
that weight and how it effects everything on down the chain.

Brand new cabinets to be custom constructed. I wouldn't consider cantilever
because of the weight and I know I have stood on the counter top and I have
to make sure it could support two people having sex on it from time to time.

Also if it is fully cantilever it will be difficult to clean whatever that
is spilled under.

I am talking about just recessing it further in, instead of recessing it a
standard 2-3", to recess it say 8"-10", the cabinets are 24" deep, about
24-3/4" including the doors.

It can be done, but it's not a great option. Maintenance,
functionality and aesthetics could be better addressed in other ways
than an extra deep toe kick.

How about changing the question to - what could I do to make the toe
kicks more interesting? You'll get more out of your ? that way.
