Thanks much for telling us. I have been searching for a few days with
no results. I forgot I have Howard Garrett's book, "Texas Bugs." I
will see if he has it listed.

Glad I'm not paying by the hour ;-) Somebody in alt.binaries.food
(?) identified it. I slipped it in there under the guise of a
food post ;-)
I had searched for 20-25 minutes with no luck.
Cool looking bug. It's hard to overlook that guy when you see him
lying there, which is probably why he needs such a hard shell.
This one was at least 1.5" long

I've seen enough Alien movies to know not to get too close for
too long. And it was in my way. It was eitehr that or get
stepped on while I was moving stuff in and out of my garage.
Besides, bugs love being flicked. They hold up much better than
if somebody 42,500 times my size were to flick me.

<laughs> Very true!
I'd have moved it into a container tho' then released it out of my
way... gently. But, I'm a girl. :-)
Who knows how many of it's babies you cooked tho' when you burned that
pecan wood?
Pecan is excellent BBQ wood however. I do use it when it is available.
I save Mesquite for final flavoring.
