Hi,
I planted 3 bradford pears and all have developed black leaves, and 2 have
died. Is this because of too much rain?

No, it's probably because you didn't fully saturate the root ball
before placing it into the hole, or planted it too deeply, or it could
also be just because they aren't great trees for Texas. Their
lifespan is about 15 years. That's a lot of time put in for a tree to
have it die.

I'd return to the place you bought them if you did not do any of the
above. If you did do any of the above inadvertantly, the warranty or
guarantee should not be used because it is the fault of the customer
not the vendor. It's only the right thing to do.
