I'm all for saying "NO" to Bin Laden, and I hope your friend and the
Fireman's Fund profits very well, but I have a couple of suggestions:
1) Reduce the price drastically! You're not going to get many takers at
$120 a pop. If you don't know how to reduce the price by reducing the
manufacturing costs then contact people who DO know or ask for advice in
a couple of Usenet newsgroups.
2) Increase the quality drastically! The "darts" look like matchsticks
with feathers on them. Very lame. Without doubt you can buy cheaply
(and then resell) darts that will actually look good. AND as much fun
as it might be to put a dart in Bin Laden's eye, you can't very well
make much of a game out of it -- and people won't buy it unless you can
make a game out of it. Regions with point values need to be defined.
Do away with the red circle/slash and put concentric bull's eye circles
on it instead. And use a real photo of Bin Laden silkscreened on the
substrate (cork or whatever) instead of something that looks like a
painting. If you don't know what a silkscreen is, then ask.
Just my $.02 (You're not going to get my $120.00)
Now, in addition to all that it appears that the site asks people to
mail a check to a Post Office Box payable to an Angela Medlock in Ceres
California. And you want people to give you 4 to 6 weeks for
delivery!! Yeah, right . . . OK, I'll give you the benefit of a doubt
for a second -- but wait; the Web domain is registered to a person in
Delray Beach, Florida. If you're legit, then act the part . . . you
look a lot like a scam to me. Or maybe you just don't have the faintest
idea what you're doing. Either way, anybody who trusts you would have
to be very naive indeed.
