Author exterior adjustable louvered shutters

I need a removable *exterior* shading device for south facing windows
and (after much consideration) have decided that adjustable louvered
shutters (*not* the decorative type) would work pretty well. The
problem is I can't find any. Anyone know of a source? Alternatively,
can *indoor* adjustable louvered shutters work outdoors if they are
made of the right material (vinyl?, fiberglass? aluminum?)

TIA

Shade screens will work better. When the sun moves far enough that heat is
not a problem take them down and store them until the next year.

Any operable exterior shutter will be a potentially expensive and definitely
custom proposition. Where are you located? I have made some on commission
before although I do not do it regularly.

Your choices are typically louvered, paneled combined louvered and paneled.
Exterior shutters do not typically have operable louvers but that could be
an option.

One interesting thing to note. Most of the fake shutters are installed
upside down! Look at them, notice the direction of the louvers. They shed
the rain. Now imagine if they were operable, and closed. If it rained they
would let the rain in!
