zanussi washing machine wont drain

Our Zanussi washing machine works well except on occassion and now
mostly will not drain. There is the usual droning noise but hte water
is not going anywhere. Could it just be the pump? The model is about 8
years old and is a wdt 1085.Anyone got an idea or have come across this
before?
