yes, and in the case of the tree, the electrolyte maybe continually
recharged, unlike a potatoe. The copper and zinc nails (or whatever you
choose to use as electrodes) must be replaced on a regular basis, and
there may be detrimental effects on the tree, but in an emergency .....
