yanmar diesel generator

| I recently purshased a 12k lite plant at a county auction .It has about one
thousand hours on it .
The diesel engine can be started with the electric starter or a pull rope
..could anyone tell me how long this setup will last since it already has a
thousand hours on it .i will only use it for back up electric and some times
to run a mig welder in the field .the engine is a one cyl yanmar
as a back up i will need to power w 22 0 vlt well pump and the usuall stuff
in the house fridg.freezer and hot water heaterand of course the tv a bit.
I also have a 7500 sears craftman genset it is gasoline .ican use it to but
i would rather depend on the diesel as i believe it will be a bit cheaper to
operate..
any sugestions would be appreciated.

Probably a good long time. The same company manufactures construction and
farm equipment that has a very good reputation for longevity. 12 KVA should
be enough for almost anything you need to run.

That Yanmar will last for years with regular maintenance. Works good on
used fryer oil too. I worked in a yanmar shop for a number of years
building pumps, generators, and small boats.

Well, I'm a tad jealous! I suspect you'll get a good lifetime
out of it but have nothing to back that up. What IS good
however, is deisel: It's so much easier to keep fuel around for
them.
I've decided if I ever had to replace mine it'll be a diesel
unit. Lots easier to get fuel from my furnace tank than to try
gettin git out of my car if I should run out. Most will run just
fine on #1 fuel oil.
I hate having to store so much gasoline around here for the
genset.
