Diesels will run in excess of 8000 hours with good maintenance. Check
oil for dilution on a reguliar basis; run the diesel at 90% rated load
and speed for 1/2 hour or more when you run it(idleing at no load will
cause it to carbon up); run it at least once a month; and perform all
required maintence as per the manufactors reccomendations.
