I have an old house and with codes being what they were back then, they
didn't build a utility room in this house. So, Now the codes are
different and I can't put a gas water heater of any kind in the
bathroom. It (the gas water heater) is now in a hallway closet. Which
isn't the greatest place for it, but the only place inside the house
besides the attic.

I thought about a tankless gas heater, but I still have the same
problem with placement. I know they make tankless gas units that can go
outside, but I don't have that kind of money. My gas bill for last
month was $47.00. This was just for heating water and a gas dryer. I
live by myself and maybe dry two to three loads of clothes a week.

Since I have a placement problem with gas, I thought about going to
electric. I know electric will cost more, but if I don't have a 60
gallon tank being heated all week, I thought I might break even. I also
thought of a small standard electric heater of a timer or switch,
instead of a tankless. I don't have much money to spend, I have credit,
which is the reason I don't have much money.

I was wondering if any of you have done a small standard heater on a
switch or timer, and what your experience is and how satisfied your are
with it. I live in Centeral Arkansas. Or if you went tankless electric
from standard gas and how that affected your monthly cost.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.
Thanks

I went to a bosch 117000 btu unit, you will most likely need to upsize
the gas line. But my summer gas bills are now 7$ and I cook all food and
use a gas dryer, but I only heat water to a hot water shower only temp.
Electric for me is 3x the cost of gas, run your numbers. Electric also
need alot of juice, for a small Bosch unit 120a, not many people have
120a free. go gas tankless if you can.
