Right. I found the Wikipedia site - good exposition. My original
question originated from aqueduct siphons that seem to exceed that. My
error was to forget that a section of an enclosed aqueduct can pass
over a ridge but it is not a true siphon as hydraulic pressure is
-pushing- the water over vice suction pulling it over.
