There is an ad in Mother Earth News Aug/Sep 2005 on page 85 that shows a
Corn/Wood Pellet furnace.
It has a chart of costs per year in different engergies to heat a 2000 sqft
home per year. Electricity is the most at a cost of $2103 a year. Paper
pellets at the lowest end at $372 a year. Next is corn at $500 a year then
wood pellets at $600 a year. Then we are shown Red Oak at $85 a cord for
only $643 a year. I don't know were the heck anyone could get Oak for $83 a
cord. Out in Northern California there is more Black Oak than you can shake
your chain saw at and it still runs $245 a cord delivered.
Maybe if you live in Nebraska the cost of corn would be cheapest.

All of these things are commodities and their relative prices are subject
to great variation from year to year. Also, like real estate, when it comes to
things like wood and corn we must think "location, location, location" because
the availability (and thus the price) will vary greatly from area to area.

| So where do you find a cheap corn stove?
How much more time does one spend on it
than on propane or electric?
