Author looking for a 144V DC inverter...

eyup, that's 144 VDC. 12 Volt ones are easy. 24 Volt ones
are fairly common as well. And 48V, while pricey, are
also off the shelf.

But 144VDC? Haven't found any...

Suggestions welcome. Thank you

We use black boxes from a company called EXELTECH. They are located in
Fort WEorth, Texas. I have a phisical address but no info on any web pages.

The one I have says:
DC 108V (Sys): 1.5 A @ 124.2V (Nom)
AC 117V 1.07 AS 60 hz.

I imagine they make something geared more to your 144Vdc requirement.

Contact Chad Lampkin of Michigan Energy Works. His phone number is
616-897-5161 or 616-340-5743. He manufactures high quality 3kw+ 144
vdc transformerless inverters. I have personally used his inverters
for about 17 years and wouldn't use anything else. Efficiencies are
much higher (95-98%) with high voltage.

Don't forget SMA Sunny Boy. They have a very complete line of
inverters. Mine (4) are running at 353-354 vpv (that's Volts from photo
voltaic) as I write this they are averaging about 900 Watts at 239 VAC
output, but it is 16:45 PM and that is well after my peak output. (Today
they peaked at 2125 Watts each about 13:15 PM.)

Cool! These inverters put out 240vac? What about a centre tap at 120vac?

The Sunnboy (Jim's are SB-2500U's) only sync's with household 240 vac grid,
they are not a stand-alone inverter. Not grid, no output. Also, as nice as
the Sunnyboy is it is becoming a dated design. There are more efficient
inverters and lower cost per watt as well

The original poster wanted as converter for 144DC , the lowest the Sunnyboy
will operate on is ~230VDC but needs a much higher "wakeup voltage" , from
the factory its configured as 300 VDC.

for the specs for all CEC certified inverters, from independent and verified
testing check out the CEC web-site at

What kind of efficiencies are you talking about?

Chad's inverters are stand alone for battery charging. The 3 kw is
about 12" x 12" x 6" deep and weighs about 4 pounds. It draws 10 ma no
load. It doesn't have a sleep mode - It's always on, totally silent.
Efficiencies are 95+ and VERY trouble free.
