12 volt Motion Dectector - Light

| Greetings,
Does anyone know of a place that would sell a 12 volt motion
detector/light assembly ? Or, a quick and easy hack into an existing
120v one to convert it ?
I have seen some $90 units that just seem to be overly pricey. After
all, there are 120v motion lights at the stores for under $20.
I know there are likely some 12v or 24v motion units related to
security systems and I would be willing to hack one of those, but if
someone already makes an affordable light fixture, I would be
interested.
Thanks,
Grummy

| The sensor circuit and the dry contact output are usually seperate circuit
wire pairs if splitting them up is what you want. This would require 120vAC
but would switch 12vDC circuits??

Do you mean like this?
http://www.mpja.com/directview.asp?product=13616+SC
And only 5 bucks.
OK there is no light exactly but you can
use it to drive a solid state DC relay.

| Geeez. Wake up SF! LOL
Go to local alarm company for their standard wall motion detectors. They run
on 12 v dc systems and have seperate contacts.
Check online for decent prices. I buy mine for about $22 Canuck in Toronto
area from Baran-Harper. These are the professional units not the home gadget
crap.

I knew that!...LOL

| But, you will have to add a timer circuit and a relay or power FET
circuit to make it useful.

Check your local marine supply. One shot timers with IR sensors
are used for switching deck lights, controlling toilet flushing
etc. If they can survive at sea they can survive anywhere.
Something like this :-

Thanks to all who responded ! I especially like this last option. My
application is to turn on a light as someone approaches close range,
similar to a deck lamp on a boat (or when leaving the urinal I guess).
Fantastic Group ! Thanks Again !
