Author HOA Controls??????

OK guys, I have read about HOA that seem to control a lot of people's
housing. What are they, how do they get started so that they can take
control? Is this part of gated communities? I know about condominiums where
management controls the outside, is this what you are calling an HOA? Or is
it something different, can you explain?

HOA = Home Owner's Assn. HOA's come in all shapes and sizes. Some are
simply a loose, friendly, homeowner's club, and some are worse than any condo
association that you have ever heard of. In general, HOA's get their legal
clout from deed restrictions (AKA Covenants) that are crafted when a new
community is planned.

We have the very best kind of HOA in our community. There are no deed
restrictions, so the association serves as our collective voice to local
government, has a good picnic every year, and never tries to issue orders to its
members. Since it has no actual authority, it always works for us, rather than
trying to be our boss.

I have to disagree. I think I have the best kind of HOA, none.

Thanks for the commentary. I am not aware of any such HOAs in this area but
I could be corrected some who know of them.
