That would be a very impressive performance for any car, but even more so
for such a tiny vehicle. The video leaves me with three thoughts.
1) I saw no airbags. Does the Smart have them?
2) The results of the test crash may have been considerably different if the
target had been a real concrete wall rather than that portable (Jersey) barrier.
Much of the crash energy was absorbed in pushing that Jersey barrier several
feet rather than in deforming the structure of the car. That said, I remain
impressed.
3) I wonder how the Smart will fare in a side impact test. Has it been
oficially tested yet?

It's not popular with those affected but how do you explain the huge
numbers of 4x4's and oversized people carriers that plague the large
towns and cities particularly in the UK? With the exception of a few
agricultural users and those in remote areas the vast majority are
driven by badly informed, arrogant and just plain stupid people.
Anyone with half a brain has a proper sized vehicle, light, efficient
and as a consequence of the previous design parameters fast for it's
power.
I truly despise traveling in any American road passenger vehicle. They
are just so incredibly and extremely wrong in every single respect.

To be honest there really aren't that many.
