Author key fob controlled light

Are there any key fob controls that have reasonable range? My buddy has
a toy x10 unit (SP switch replacement) that was rated to work "up to
130'. It actually has a range of about 20' and that is while standing in
the same room as the receiver. He called and they told him that that was
the usual result.

A Google on the key fob gives a number of hits that look the same as
his. The load is 300W incandescent lights. The preferred receiver would
be a SP toggle switch replacement but other receivers might be OK.

I would suggest a better receiver or modifying your current one with a
better antenna.

A quick search will produce some sites showing this.

WGL V572A is also great if you not wanting to play around to get something
to work.
